As we scale rapidly across both D2C and wholesale channels, we are restructuring our finance operations to support stronger cash flow, accurate reporting, and operational excellence. We are hiring a dedicated, experienced accountant who understands the pace and complexity of modern e-commerce.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior E-commerce & Wholesale Accountant to own all accounting functions across our direct-to-consumer and wholesale business. This role will be fully dedicated to Sunday Citizen and responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, cash flow health, clean reconciliations, timely invoicing, and strong operational linkage between accounting, operations, merchandising, and marketing.

You will bring deep experience in Shopify, QuickBooks, and an ERP system such as Fulfil, and you must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Accounting

- Own daily, weekly, and monthly accounting operations for Sunday Citizen across DTC and wholesale.

- Manage all bookkeeping, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy.

- Prepare timely month-end close and financial statements.

- Maintain accurate cash flow forecasts and ensure financial visibility for leadership.

E-commerce Accounting (DTC)

- Oversee reconciliation of Shopify payouts, transactional data, discounts, refunds, and chargebacks.

- Monitor cost of goods sold (COGS), gross margin accuracy, and inventory valuation.

- Ensure clean mapping between Shopify, QuickBooks, and ERP for orders, sales tax, and inventory movements.

Wholesale Accounting

- Generate wholesale invoices accurately and on time.

- Maintain AR aging reports and chase overdue payments when necessary.

- Reconcile wholesale purchase orders with ERP inventory and timelines.

- Track chargebacks, deductions, and partner compliance fees.

ERP & Systems

- Own accounting operations within Fulfil (or similar ERP platform).

- Manage syncing across Shopify, ERP, 3PL, and QuickBooks.

- Troubleshoot discrepancies across platforms and maintain accurate system flows.

AP & Inventory Management

- Reconcile inventory across ERP, 3PL, and financial systems.

- Support cycle counts, stock audits, and resolution of variances.

- Ensure landed cost and margin calculations are accurate.

Operational Alignment

- Work closely with merchandising, operations, finance, and leadership to anticipate issues and prevent downstream blockers.

- Improve workflows between product data, inventory, accounting, and fulfillment.

- Provide proactive reporting and insights to support decision-making.

Experience & Qualifications

- 4+ years experience in accounting, preferably within e-commerce, consumer products, or omnichannel retail.

- Strong experience with Shopify, QuickBooks Online, and Fulfil ERP (or similar platforms like NetSuite, Brightpearl, Linnworks, DEAR, etc.).

- Solid understanding of inventory accounting, COGS, wholesale terms, and revenue recognition.

- Experience managing DTC reconciliation and high SKU-volume environments.

- Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.

- Strong analytical skills and ability to investigate data discrepancies.

- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-growth start-up environment.

- Clean books, on time, every month.

- Accurate, real-time visibility into cash flow and AR.

- No reconciliation surprises between Shopify, ERP, and QuickBooks.

- Wholesale invoices go out promptly and cash comes in “like butter.”
