Sunday Citizen is a rapidly growing direct-to-consumer luxury home and lifestyle brand specializing in premium bedding, bath, loungewear, and comfort products. The business operates primarily through Shopify, Amazon, wholesale partnerships, and international distribution channels, managing inventory across multiple fulfillment locations.

As the company continues to scale, we are seeking an experienced finance professional who understands the operational and financial realities of a modern e-commerce retailer and can support financial reporting, cash flow management, inventory accounting, and business performance.

Position Summary

We are seeking a LATAM-based Senior Accountant or Finance Manager to join our growing team.

This is not a traditional accounting role.

We are specifically looking for someone who has built their career supporting U.S.-based direct-to-consumer (DTC) e-commerce businesses and understands the financial operations behind inventory-based consumer brands.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Shopify-based businesses, inventory accounting, cash flow forecasting, financial reporting, and multi-channel e-commerce operations. Experience supporting companies whose primary market is the United States is required. Experience supporting businesses operating in both the U.S. and UK markets is highly preferred.

We are open to candidates ranging from strong Senior Accountants through Finance Managers, depending on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated ability.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage the monthly close process and prepare accurate financial statements and management reports

• Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis, KPI reporting, and executive financial summaries

• Develop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts and working capital plans

• Manage accounts payable processes, vendor payments, and cash management activities

• Maintain and oversee accounting records within QuickBooks Online

• Reconcile Shopify sales activity, payment processors, merchant accounts, refunds, chargebacks, and marketplace transactions

• Monitor and analyze key e-commerce financial metrics, including gross margins, contribution margins, inventory turnover, cash conversion cycle, and fulfillment costs

• Partner closely with operations, logistics, inventory planning, and leadership teams to support decision-making

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives

• Manage inventory accounting, landed costs, freight expenses, duties, fulfillment costs, and cost of goods sold

• Reconcile inventory movements across warehouses, 3PL providers, and fulfillment partners

• Support reporting requirements for ownership, lenders, investors, and external advisors

• Improve financial controls, reporting processes, systems integration, and automation initiatives

• Collaborate with external accountants, tax advisors, and other financial partners

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience

• Significant experience within a direct-to-consumer (DTC) e-commerce business where online sales represented the primary revenue channel

• Experience working for a U.S.-based company or supporting businesses whose primary customer base was in the United States

• Strong hands-on Shopify experience

• Strong QuickBooks Online expertise

• Experience preparing monthly management accounts, financial reporting packages, and executive-level reporting

• Experience building and maintaining cash flow forecasts

• Strong understanding of inventory accounting, working capital management, and cost of goods sold

• Experience operating within inventory-based consumer products businesses

• Advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities

• Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to operate independently within a fast-paced remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting companies operating in both the U.S. and UK markets

• Experience with Amazon marketplace accounting and reporting

• Experience with multi-currency accounting (USD and GBP)

• Experience with ERP systems and integrations

• Experience managing 3PL accounting and warehouse reconciliations

• Experience supporting consumer brands generating USD 20M+ in annual revenue

• CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification

Compensation

Competitive compensation in USD, based on experience and qualifications.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate has worked within a Shopify-based consumer brand whose primary market was the United States and has developed a deep understanding of the operational and financial mechanics of running an inventory-heavy e-commerce business.

This individual understands inventory management, fulfillment operations, cash flow forecasting, gross margin optimization, working capital planning, multi-channel sales, and e-commerce financial reporting. They are comfortable operating independently, partnering with leadership, and driving improvements across both accounting and finance functions.

We are less concerned with title and more concerned with practical experience. We would prefer a highly capable Senior Accountant or Finance Manager with deep e-commerce expertise over a traditional accountant whose background is primarily outside direct-to-consumer consumer brands and online retail.
