Our mission — and why this role is at the heart of it
We give property owners freedom from the work and worry of their rentals, while giving guests a stay so good they never want to book anywhere else.
We exist to delight guests — and to prove to owners that their property can be both well-cared-for and more profitable in our hands.
One of our five core values is "automate the recurring, humanize the rest."
This role is that value made real.
Every property-management company drowns in repetitive, falls-through-the-cracks work — and that work is exactly what stops it from growing and what pulls our people away from the guests and owners who need them.
You’ll build the engine that absorbs all of it — a system that detects work, does it, and only puts a human in the loop when one is truly needed.
It’s how we scale without adding a person for every unit, and how we free our team to do the human part brilliantly.
Our vision
To become the most trusted name in vacation rental management — a thousand-plus homes held to a 4.8-star standard nationwide — where technology absorbs the manual work so our people can spend their days building real relationships with owners and guests.
And above all, that the people who build this grow further than they ever believed possible — rising into the kind of leaders who could run a major company, not just a growing one, reaching heights they don’t yet imagine for themselves.
That last line is the real offer.
This is a founding technical role: build the engine well, and you grow into the person who owns our technology.
What you’ll build — and where it goes
You start here (Phase 1): three pipelines on one shared backbone — the task ledger, the autonomy dial, the audit log, and the board that everything plugs into.
Maintenance
Issues (from a cleaning checklist, a guest message, or a schedule) become tracked tasks that route, chase themselves, escalate, and close with proof.
Owner onboarding
A won deal flows through intake, setup, listing build, pricing, and go-live, with automation handling the hand-offs.
Sales
Leads flow through nurture, booked calls, and close.
But that’s the foundation, not the destination.
Every pipeline runs on the same engine — so once it’s proven, it extends to everything a management company does by hand today:
Pricing intelligence
Owner statements and finance operations
Guest communication and an AI concierge
Reviews
Damage claims
All the “black holes” of work that currently live in people’s heads and spreadsheets
On top of it sits an AI brain that watches the whole operation and keeps making it better on its own.
And the horizon is bigger than us.
We’re building it clean and portable on purpose, because our someday north stars are real:
To turn this system into a product other operators pay for.
To power our own developments and hotels.
And one day, to put the first vacation rental on the moon.
So read this plainly:
You’re not building three workflows.
You’re building the spine the entire company will run on, and quite possibly a product beyond it.
That’s what "founding" means here — and why the person who builds it grows as far as they’re willing to run.
You’ll build it in verified stages, embedded with our operations team — the people whose work you’re automating — so you understand the why, not just the ticket.
Compensation
Compensation ultimately depends on experience, technical level, and demonstrated ability to build and ship production systems.
$4,000/month base + up to $1,000/month performance bonus → $5,000/month for strong work.
The bonus is designed to be very attainable — alignment, not a lottery.
Up to $1,000/month across three components:
Delivery & reliability — up to $500
You ship the month’s agreed work to its acceptance tests, and anything live stays healthy with issues fixed fast.
(The bulk of the bonus while we’re building.)
Real impact — up to $300
The system’s own numbers show it’s removing work — a target share of tasks handled end-to-end with no human touch, and/or coordination time down against our baseline — provided guest complaints and SLA breaches don’t rise (quality comes first).
(Grows once the system is live.)
Ownership & improvement — up to $200
The runbook stays current so anyone could pick the system up, and you ship a couple of self-driven improvements each month.
Targets are set together and reviewed monthly, deliberately at “doing the job well” level.
Who we’re looking for
You’re early in your career but already exceptional — you’d rather a role you can grow enormously in than a title at a company that’s plateaued.
You don’t have twenty years of experience; you have proof.
You’ve already shipped systems real people or a real business depend on, and you can walk us through them.
Must-haves (with proof)
1–4+ years shipping production backend/automation — real systems in real use, not course projects. Come ready to screen-share something you built end-to-end.
Postgres, seriously — schema design, migrations, indexing, constraints, and specifically idempotent upserts and an understanding of row-level security (we hold owner and guest data). Supabase is a plus.
Automation/orchestration — n8n (or similar) to production quality, and/or the ability to build a clean coded orchestration layer in Node/TypeScript or Python — plus the judgment to know when to use which.
REST APIs and webhooks — integrating third-party APIs with token auth/refresh, and building webhook receivers that are idempotent, restart-safe, verify the sender, and acknowledge fast.
Config-driven instincts — behavior lives in editable data read at runtime, never hardcoded, so non-developers can change a rule without a deploy.
Engineering hygiene — version control with real incremental history, automated tests around the parts that fail silently, structured logging, and documentation another person can actually follow.
Clear English, written and spoken, and able to work US-timezone hours — you’ll be on our team’s rhythm, not a night-shift hand-off.
Strong pluses
AI/LLM workflows — Claude/OpenAI, structured output, classification, confidence/retry handling.
Time-correct scheduling logic — SLA/business-hours engines that handle time zones and DST properly.
Internal dashboards — Retool, Appsmith, or React.
Zero-to-one ownership — you’ve taken something from nothing to live in production largely on your own.
How you’re wired (this matters as much as the skills)
Growth-obsessed — our number-one value is "we never compromise on getting better."
Execution over talk — we keep the people who ship, not the ones who just describe.
Ownership — you leave things others can run, and you flag a risk or question a spec early rather than build the wrong thing quietly.
Hungry for the ceiling — you actually want to grow into a technical leader, and you’ll run at it.
What to show us
A repo or live system you built — ideally something with webhooks, a database, and a third-party API — ready to walk through:
Where the state lives.
How retries are handled.
How the system survives a restart or failure.
How we work
Embedded with the ops team, same hours, in verified stages — each piece has a clear pass/fail test before we move on.
You own the system and document it.
We give you the goal and the context.
You own the how.
And we grow our people as fast as we grow the portfolio — that’s not a line, it’s the vision.
